Just had to say I love, love, love the Red Green quote "If at first you don't succeed, then use more duct tape." Can I use that for our homeschool motto?!

I think you may have seriously just solved all of my homeschool woes! Lol. I am so inspired! Now I just need to start collecting attractive duct tape. Michael's craft stores has a cute idea for covering/reinforcing folders and notebooks on their website. It is listed under teacher crafts, I think.
I am actually inspired to start blogging again!
Blessings,

I just ran across this in search. I've been using ConnecttheThoughts.net for our homeschool curriculum for years for my two upper schoolers.

It's not a Scientology-based curriculum. My sister is a Scientologist, and I looked into their study method.

If it were one, it would require before studying, reading "Learning How to Learn" (or one of the other books here http://solutionsinlearning.com/books_for_kids.htm) - that books is the earliest reader level of book at the core of the aforementioned Study Technology. Also any school materials based on Hubbards' works have to credit the company that owns his Study Technology materials - Applied Scholastics. CTT doesn't do any such credit on their site.

I have spoken with Steven David Horwich directly, and I found him incredibly passionate about there being no other workable curriculum for children out there at all. He found nothing good enough when he was searching for a curriculum for his own children, and he built CTT because of that. Doesn't sound like a front group for anything or anyone to me.

As a non-religious person, I was very glad to find CTT because it stays away from pedagogy completely. It doesn't "side" with any religious POV, but it does explain the world's religions beautifully and allow your child to look at them without bias for or against. And I love the science courses. I have a Christian friend who does, too.

My two cents.

Shannon... hello, my name is Jackie Stephens. Hate to get off topic, but I really need to get your input on my efforts to contact AOP about getting a product switch from Monarch to the SOS version. I purchased Monarch today and after setting it up and going through the lessons, I immediately knew I had made a huge mistake. My son used SOS for two years and I decided to try Monarch based on the cleaver marketing by AOP.

I purchased AOP today and will be calling the company tomorrow. You mentioned on your momlovesbooks website that we could try getting in touch with Brent Molan, the VP of Marketing. Do you have any other suggestions?

Again, I have faithfully used SOS and my son loves it. But this Monarch is awful. Thanks!

I can't really express in words the excitement I feel! I had to show my family and then stop crying!! We have enjoyed project packs for years but all that hard work ends up in a stack somewhere and then off to a box in the basement. In fact, we switched a bit to notebooking because binders seem easier to work with but they definetely lack the fun of proj. packs. Thank you for following Red Green's wise counsel, "If at first you don't succeed, then use more duct tape." and "Spare the duct tape, spoil the job." Thank you and God Bless!!

Hi, I have been reading through your posts and was wondering if I might ask a question. I have recently been looking at doing 'Connect the Thoughts' curriculum for my daughter. I saw that you initially supported it and used it. Can you give me an idea as to why you stopped using the program and would you recommend the program.

Very Kindly,
Lisa M.

I love this idea. I keep all of our work in a 3 ring binder and we are just working on our first ever lapbook. This is perfect as I was trying to figure out what we would do with our finished project. Thank you for the instructions!

I absolutely love your idea! We are currently studying dinosaurs and are making a lapbook for each one. I was stumpted as to where I could keep them together. Now, I have found your idea and am going to use it!

** This is the second time I'm trying to post this message (in case you get two copies). The "Please add '5 and 5" box threw me off. Hopefully this time my message goes through ok. :-) Now I'm wondering if you received the message I sent last week. At any rate, here is a copy of my first message from today:

This is Liz Coombs again (from Teacher Book Bag). I left you a message last week and I'm trying one more time to reach you since I haven't heard from you yet. Another writer and myself would like to request permission to mention your duct tape idea and include a link to your blog entry in our upcoming June/July Book Bags. Please email me at my AOL address or visit www.teacherbookbag.net and click on "contact us" and send a message to that email address. If you are able, please email us by this Wednesday, May 19.

If you are unable to reply to us by the 19th, we will just include a link to a page on Squidoo (http://www.squidoo.com/lapbooking-vs-notebooking) which includes links to great lapbooking/notebooking ideas on various blogs, including yours. As a publishing company, we do not include links to personal blogs in our publications without the permission of the blog owners.

Our hats off to you for doing a wonderful job homeschooling your children using so many different resources and methods!!

Looks good, you are right mine is longer! I love this time of year when I have stacks of new books and curriculum to look through. Makes up for the dragging of the last few weeks of school, which I hate.
